Alice Flagg & The Gray Man StoryOther Favorite Ghost Stories
Waverly Hills Sanatorium in Louisville, KYGrowing up I heard the stories of Alice Flagg and The Grey Man over and over again. They just kind of stuck with me, of course there's LOTS more ghost stories but those two are just my personal favorites from where I come from. :) My mom once told me her experience with Alice's grave it was located in my town but I believe moved elsewhere. My mom and a bunch of other kids from her high school "broke in" one halloween, needless to say, they almost got busted but the police so they didn't get very far in learning if the story of Alice Flagg was true and if she actually tugs at your rings.
I first heard about, Waverly Hills Sanatorium, because of all the travel channel and ghost shows I watch, I think Ghost Hunters was originally what I was watching when I encountered Waverly. I have a girl friend who is stationed here is from Kentucky and just talked about this the other day. She told me her experience was she paid like $20 and went in with her group, got a flashlight, and a map and was able to go around with the map and look around. They also will give a t-shirt if you can stay in there after a certain time of night that says, "I survived Waverly" Pretty cool if you're not too scared of the paranormal. ;)
Top 5 Favorite Scary Movies:
- Ouija - I started with the newest one I seen because it is a definite must see. I've always been kind of fascinated about the Ouija board, not brave enough to explore having one but, I was definitely scared out my wits with all the jumps scares this one has! And the way it was made seemed like they would make a sequel maybe. Fingers crossed it's just as good as the first :) Talking about the movie: The movie is about this group of friends that encounter an ouija board that was their friends before she died, in order to connect with her they have to use the ouija to see if their friend really did in fact commit suicide like the police said she did. Throughout the movie the plot is very clear and the relationships of the characters make you feel very part of the story.
- The Uninvited - This is more of a thriller compared to scary, but it's just equally as good. It stars Emily Browning, Arielle Kebbel, and Elizabeth Banks which are three of my favorite actresses. The movie is about Anna (Emily Browning) who returns home from a mental hospital where she was staying because of a trauma over what happened to her mother. When Anna comes home her sister, Alex (Arielle Kebbel) is there waiting for her and these two sisters discover the truth about a presence in their home and just how evil their step mother is. This movie I saw in the theater with my dad back when it came out in 2009 and I always try to watch it when I can.
- Dead Silence - If you have a fear of ventriloquists' and dolls this one may not be for you, unless you love getting creeped out! This movie stars Ryan Kwanten, Donnie Wahlberg, and a lot of other awesome actors/actresses. It's plot is basically Jamie Asher (Ryan Kwanten) who finds his girl friend dead after a mysterious dummy arrives from their hometown of Ravens Fair. Every town has their own ghost story so Ravens Fair is no exception. Ravens Fair is home of the Ventriloquist, Mary Shaw (Judith Roberts) back in the 1940's when she was alive she went mad, she was accused of kidnapping a young boy who just so happen to yell out during one of her performances that she was a fraud. The towns people found her and got their revenge by cutting out her tongue and killing her. It is said that, since she was killed that the towns people started dropping dead one by one. Watch if you dare!
- The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) - Of course there are the original and newer Texas Chainsaw Massacres all to each of their own, but this one that stars, Jessica Biel, was the one that scared me for life. "Driving through the backwoods of Texas, five youths pick up a traumatized hitchhiker, who shoots herself in their van. Shaken by the suicide, the group seeks help from the locals, but their situation becomes even more surreal when they knock on the door of a remote homestead. It's quickly apparent the residents are a family of inbred psychopaths, and the unlucky youths suddenly find themselves running for their lives. In hot pursuit is a disfigured, chainsaw-wielding cannibal known as Leatherface." (source: IMDb)
- The Silence of the Lambs - I know I said scary, but if this one doesn't creep you out then nothing will. Sometimes the most creepiest movies come from the dialogue and the talent of the actors. I feel like one of those movies. I grew up only hearing about it but didn't watch it till my adulthood and let me tell you I have never been able to look at Anthony Hopkins the same way again because he's so convincing in this. "Young FBI agent Clarice Starling is assigned to help find a missing woman to save her from a psychopathic serial killer who skins his victims. Clarice attempts to gain a better insight into the twisted mind of the killer by talking to another psychopath Hannibal Lecter, who used to be a respected psychiatrist. FBI agent Jack Crawford believes that Lecter, who is also a very powerful and clever mind manipulator, has the answers to their questions and can help locate the killer. However, Clarice must first gain Lecter's confidence before the inmate will give away any information." (Source: IMDb)
