MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND!

*LATE DISCLAIMER: Since my computer wouldn't let me upload the photos till Memorial Day this is going up a day late. Sorry for the inconvenience & I hope y'all had a great Memorial Day!*

I said I was going to start blogging more personal posts for our family back home. It also occurred to me that other people may be interested in what there is to do in Nevada who want more of the non biased reviews of locals. Hence this blog today. I'm not writing this on memorial day, but I did want to wish everyone a Memorial day since I will be posting this on Memorial Day. I'm thinking about all military families today. :)

This Memorial Day weekend my husband (Tyler) and I decided to go to Bonnie Springs Ranch in Nevada. If you don't know what that is, well I'm here to tell you. As avid Ghost Adventures watchers (the T.V. show, I haven't actually seen a ghost, but I believe in them) our interest was piqued when we saw an episode awhile back (Season 4 Episode 17 I believe) where Zak and his crew are doing a walk through of Bonnie Springs Ranch. It isn't too far from Red Rock Caynon, but is in what is known as Spring Mountain Range. Bonnie Springs Ranch was originally built in 1843 as a stop over for the wagon trains going to California down the Old Spanish Trail. It is now a tourist attraction of a little western town.

What is there to do you ask?

You can take a scenic ride on the train (first ride is free up to the main attraction, but you will have to pay $10 for an adult wrist band, not sure about child price seeing as we only have a fur child, I will update when we go back)

When you get in after you buy the wrist band, there are 2 shows that happen. One, will be inside that gives you an idea of what the entertainment was like back then and two, will be held out side and will be a humorous show (even when they mess up, trust me those guys are comical) about a bad guy that decides to rob a bank and tries to get away with it. (this one requires group participation, but don't worry it's nothing too hard if you're like me and shy when going up in front of crowds. If you can speak and have good humor, you got this!)

There is a Wax Museum, which is creepy, but then again all wax figures/dolls are in my eyes. LOL. And there is a few shops you can look and shop your little hearts desire in. They have really cool dream catchers, cowboy hats, Books, ect. Anything you might find involving the old west/history of it in a tourist area. Overall it's pretty cool stuff!

There is a Opera House that has a stage which if you seen the Ghost Adventures episode, you know is supposedly supposed to be haunted. I personally didn't remember exactly which buildings they went in to investigate, like I said it had been awhile since we watched it, but I couldn't bring myself to go to the front of the stage, that's supposed to be where the most activity has been. (Creepy!)

There is a chapel that was just plain gorgeous. The simplicity of it definitely spoke to me. :) As well as a "mining" building where you can go in it and it gives you an idea of how enclosed the mines really were. (WARNING: do not go in if claustrophobic. I'm barely claustrophobic but I got nauseated after going in it)

and of course the highlight of it all is a Zoo! There are tons of animals that walk around including does, peacocks, roosters, ect. but obey the signs that say do not put your fingers in the cages if they are not walking around, we do not want your children or your big children (aka husbands) to lose fingers.

They do have a ghost tour during the October month, which we will be doing this october! So if you are in town then, check on the website for the information :) They also have a hotel that you can stay at & a restaurant. :)

It was a wonderful experience to have, absolutely beautiful scenery in just the horse stables its self (you can also pay to ride the horses/ponies) ;) Thank you to Bonnie Springs for being so welcoming. :)

Even my little friend was very welcoming lol
(WARNING: Your clothes may taste good to them and they will shove your hand out the way because they can reach the feeders LOL!)
